John Chu is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Bamboo Insurance. He leads the company’s strategy, operations, and long-term growth, with a focus on building a durable insurance organization grounded in disciplined execution, thoughtful innovation, and strong alignment between vision and performance.

With more than 25 years of experience across insurance, financial services, private equity, and executive leadership, John has built and led organizations through periods of growth and transformation. Before founding Bamboo in 2017, he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Pacific Specialty Insurance Company and held operating partner roles at Altamont Capital Partners and Golden Gate Capital. Earlier in his career, he worked with The Hartford Insurance Company.

John earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, and an MBA in finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
